Successfully complete Classic mode on the Hard difficulty with Link or Zelda.

Alternately, play 200 VS. mode matches.
Or get him in Subspace Emissary

Pass through the hidden door on the Swamp level after completing Subspace Emissary.

Alternately, successfully complete 20 Event Matches after completing Subspace Emissary
or play 400 VS. mode matches.

Defeat Lucario in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode) with Meta Knight.

Alternately, successfully complete all Target Tests with either one or two players
Or play 100 VS. mode matches.

Successfully complete Classic mode on the Easy difficulty.

Alternately, play 22 VS. mode matches
Or defeat Luigi in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).

Or play as Marth in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).

Successfully complete Target Smash with 30 different characters on any difficulty level.

Alternately, play 250 VS. mode matches.
Or defeat him in Subspace Emissary

Play 5 VS. mode matches.

Alternately, reflect ten projectiles
Or play as Ness in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).

Play 160 VS. mode matches.

Alternately, get 250 different trophies
Or have R.O.B. join your party in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).

Play fifteen matches on Shadow Moses Island.

Alternately, play 130 VS. mode matches.
Or have Snake join your party in Subspace Emissary

Successfully complete the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).

Alternately, play 300 VS. mode matches.
Or complete Classic Mode with 10 characters

Successfully complete Classic mode after completing Subspace Emissary.

Alternately, play 400 VS. mode matches.
Or find the hidden door in the forest level after completing Subspace Emissary.

Successfully complete the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode), then complete Boss Battle mode with Fox.

Defeat Wolf after he challenges you to unlock him.

Alternately, play 450 VS. mode matches, then defeat Wolf after he challenges you.

Another method is to complete the Subspace Emissary, then go to the ruins to encounter and defeat Wolf.
